This research focuses on health communication and childhood malnutrition in rural communities in the Eastern Cape, South Africa. It investigates how information regarding malnutrition is conveyed to caregivers of children under five years old and how these caregivers understand and utilise this information in their daily lives. The study examines various communication strategies, including health talks at clinics, printed materials, media sources, and community-based resources, such as community health workers and elderly women. By analysing these communication processes, the research emphasises the importance of clear and culturally relevant science communication. This is essential for improving public understanding of nutrition and supporting caregivers in making informed decisions to promote child health and well-being.
