This toolkit, available for free download, highlights effective communication strategies derived from the media and cultural sectors in South Africa and Kenya. It serves as a practical guide for organisations and advocates focused on enhancing foundational learning, particularly in early-grade reading and mathematics. By emphasising the importance of communication as a central element of advocacy, this resource promotes stronger and more inclusive public engagement. Developed in collaboration with Prof. Nic Spaull and his colleagues, the project aims to reignite attention to literacy and numeracy as critical social justice issues, fostering greater equity in education throughout South Africa and Kenya.

SciCOM is the South African Research Chair in Science Communication. SciCOM is hosted by Stellenbosch University at the Department of Journalism (DoJ).
